ePortfolios

Here's a link to an article about overcoming different obstacles when authenticating ePortfolios. I think it's a good article to read, especially since Dr. Luongo, and many of the other Education professors use it as part of evaluating us as students.

Enjoy!

Hi, Michelle

Thanks for the link to the article. However, it is now three years old and a lot has happened since that article was written.

Almost all of the problems identified in Dr Luongo's paper have now been resolved one way or another.

For instance, the problem of 'cheating' can be addressed in two ways, firstly by only sharing 'draft versions' of parts of a piece of work and secondly by only sharing with trusted peers.

The recognition of process as opposed to outcome is now more clearly understood by teachers and should be explained to their students at the outset.

Similarly, the understanding of formative assessment is now more clearly appreciated and teachers can the more easily establish good working relationsips with their students rather than giving bare grades and blunt comments.

I could go on...

BTW Did you know that Minessota now has 95,000 students using their eFolio system and have just joined up with California?

I have adapted their eFolio system (with full permission) for the UK market and for all ages and abilities, 'from K to grey'.
